What Vehicles Do We Buy?

  • Scrap & damaged cars – MOT failures, accident write-offs, mechanical issues, all must be complete with no parts missing.
  • Vans & trucks – Any condition, whether running or not.
  • Newer cars in good condition – Send us pictures, MOT proof, and fault details for a higher price offer.
  • Fleet & trade vehicles – Dealerships, scrappage schemes & insolvency companies – contact us!
  • We do not buy LPG-converted vehicles.

For the full quoted price, your vehicle must be complete, with:

  • Engine & gearbox intact
  • Battery
  • Wheels & suspension
  • Genuine catalytic converter

If the vehicle is incomplete or has an aftermarket catalyst, deductions may apply or we may refuse. We reserve the right to refuse or charge for vehicle collection of cars with major parts missing.

  • Does it cost anything to scrap my car?
    No! Our scrap car removal service is completely free. Just enter your reg and postcode to get a quote. We do reserve the right to charge collection for motorbikes, non complete vehicles or vehicles containing fibreglass and or wood.
  • Can I sell a damaged or non-running car?
    Yes! We buy damaged, non-running, MOT failures, accident write-offs, and mechanical failures. The vehicle must be rolling on wheels and complete. Please note that the price offered may alter depending on the extent of the damage.
  • Do I need my V5 Logbook?
    Yes. If lost, we can process your sale with a disclaimer transfer sheet, valid photo ID, and supporting documents like an insurance certificate.
  • Do I need to inform the DVLA?
    No, we handle this for you! However, you should SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) your vehicle to reclaim any tax refund. Keep the yellow V5/9 section of your logbook and send it to the DVLA with our details: Take My Car Away / Autospares and Salvage Ltd, Station House, Station Road, Raunds, Northants, NN9 6BX.
  • When will I get paid?
    We process payments within 24 hours of collection via bank transfer (BACS) — no cash payments allowed (Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013). Vehicles collected on a Friday afternoon will be paid on the following Monday (excluding bank holiday Mondays).
  • Can I get a better price if I deliver my car?
    Yes! You'll receive extra money for dropping off your vehicle at our site. The amount is shown at the quote stage.
  • Can I leave personal items or rubbish in the car?
    No. Only automotive parts can be included. Non-car-related waste will incur a disposal fee (£80 + VAT).
  • Do you buy motorbikes?
    No, we don't buy motorbikes. We can collect for a charge depending on location.
  • Will I receive a Certificate of Destruction (C.O.D)?
    Not all vehicles are crushed, but those processed at our Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) will receive a C.O.D via the DVLA. We can email you a copy upon request.
  • How long is my quote valid for?
    48 hours. However, we reserve the right to requote if market prices change.
  • What identification do I need to provide?
    To comply with the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, we require a valid form of photo ID and proof of your current address. Accepted photo ID includes a valid UK passport, a passport from a European Economic Area country, or a UK biometric immigration document. For proof of address (dated within the last 3 months), we accept a credit or debit card statement, a bank or building society statement, a council tax statement or demand letter, or a household utility bill such as gas, electricity, or water. Please note that mobile phone bills are not accepted.
  • When will my car be collected?
    We work around your schedule — once your quote is confirmed, we'll arrange a collection time that suits you.
  • How can I submit my identification?
    You can upload your photo ID and V5 logbook directly through our quote system when initiating your quote. Alternatively, you can send your documents to us via WhatsApp — just tap the WhatsApp icon on the screen to get started.
